1. Introduction
The Comics Shelf ("app", "we") is developed and maintained by the appcolecao team. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect our users' information.
By using the app, you agree to the terms of this policy. If you disagree with any part of this document, we recommend that you do not use the app.
2. Data Collected
2.1 Registration and Authentication Data
To use the app, we collect the following information:
Display name
Email address
Profile photo (optional, provided by the user)
Unique authentication identifier (UID)
2.2 Collection Data
We store information about items registered by the user in their personal collection, including:
Title, author, publisher, volume, and collection of items
Item type (comic, manga, book, etc.)
Publication date
Cover image (when provided)
Reading status (read/unread)
Numeric rating assigned by the user
ISBN, when available
Date added to the collection
2.3 Global Library Collaboration Data
The app features a collaborative global library — a shared database among all users. When you add an item to your collection, the following information may be sent to the global library:
Title, author, publisher, volume, collection, and item type
ISBN and cover image
Publication date
Your user identifier (for contribution tracking)
This data is used to enrich the collective database, reduce registration effort for other users, and feed the popularity statistics in the ranking. Each user's contribution count is stored and used exclusively for ranking purposes.
2.4 Usage and Subscription Data
We collect information related to the user's plan (free or premium) and subscription status, including plan type, start date, and renewal date. This data is required to unlock features according to the subscribed plan.
3. Public Ranking and Profile Visibility
3.1 Ranking Participation
The app features a public ranking that displays the most active users in contributing to the global library. By default, user profiles are public and appear in the contributors ranking.
3.2 Public Profile
Upon creating an account, the following user information will be publicly displayed in the ranking:
Display name
Profile photo (when registered)
Total number of contributions to the global library
The user may, at any time, make their profile private by going to Settings > Public profile and disabling the option. Making the profile private immediately removes it from the ranking.
3.3 User Control
The user has full control over their ranking visibility and can toggle between public and private profile at any time in the app settings.
4. How We Use Your Data
The information collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:
User authentication and identification in the app
Storage and synchronization of the personal collection across devices
Enrichment of the collaborative global library
Calculation and display of the items and contributors ranking
Management of the subscription plan and release of premium features
Display of news and announcements within the app
We do not use data for advertising purposes, we do not sell information to third parties, and we do not share data with commercial partners.
5. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored in the following environments:
Locally on the user's device with encryption
In the cloud, with infrastructure protected by Google
We adopt technical measures to protect user information, including encryption at rest and in transit, mandatory authentication for data access, and integrity validation.
Despite the measures in place, no system is completely immune to security failures. We recommend that users keep their access credentials secure.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Data is retained while the user account is active. The user may request the deletion of their account and all associated data directly through the app, at Settings > Delete account.
After account deletion, personal data is removed from our servers. Data contributed to the global library (item information) may be retained in anonymized form to preserve the integrity of the collaborative database.
7. User Rights
In compliance with applicable data protection regulations, users have the right to:
Confirm the existence of processing of their personal data
Access the data we hold about them
Request correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data
Request deletion of their personal data
Revoke consent for data processing
Be informed about data sharing with third parties
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address provided in the contact section below.
8. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:
Google Firebase — policies.google.com/privacy
Google Play Billing — policies.google.com/privacy
Open Library and Google Books (book information lookup by ISBN) — consulted only during item registration, without sending personal data
9. Use by Minors
The app is not directed at children under 13 years of age and we do not intentionally collect personal data from children. If we identify that data from a minor has been collected without parental consent, we will proceed with immediate deletion.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. When this occurs, the "Last updated" date will be revised and the user will be informed through a notice within the app.
Continued use of the app after changes are published will constitute acceptance of the new terms.
